Kappa-Zeta Celebrates Founder's Day: Recognizes Chapter and Alumni Leaders PDF Print E-mail
 In December Kappa Zeta held it’s annual Founders Day dinner, celebrating Kappa Sigma’s birthday, the chapter’s recent achievements, and presented their annual undergrad and alumni awards. It’s been another banner year for Kappa Zeta. In November, at the annual Greek Life Awards dinner, Kappa Sigma was named the IFC Fraternity of the Year. Kappa Sigma also received the Greek Philanthropy Award, Greek Alumni Relations Award, Greek Campus Involvement Award, Greek Intramural Champions Award, for the 4th consecutive year. We were selected for the best “Greek Street Trick or Treat House”, on Greek row for the 3rd consecutive year. Kappa Sigma’s Miss Southern’s Finest Pageant raised over $2000 for Friends of Georgia Southern.

Kappa Sigma is very involved in the GSU community. Kappa Sigma’s hold office in several campus organizations; (5) Student Government Association Senators, the Vice President of SGA, the president of IFC, member of the GSU Student Advisory Board, Board of Directors for Ducks Unlimited, Quail Unlimited, and Vice President of the Accounting Honor Fraternity.

During the banquet several awards were presented to Kappa Zeta’s alumni, and undergraduate brothers. Bobby Ardd and Jimmy Matthews received the John G. Tower Award for professional achievement, Jack Roche was named Alumnus Of The Year, Reese Walker was named  the Young Alumnus Of The Year, and Kappa Zeta inducted three alumni into the chapter’s Alumni Hall Of Fame; they are Tommy Bond, Paul Massey, and Rhett Mouchett. The undergraduate brothers receiving awards were; J.D. Hunt the Kappa Zeta Memorial Scholarship, Tyler Medlin Athlete Of The Year, Chad Mock The Star And Crescent Award, and Matt Lakey Brother Of The Year.

Kappa Sigma was chartered at Georgia Southern University October 26, 1968, and is the largest Fraternity on campus. The chapter has 103 initiated brothers, and pledged 15 young men during the winter rush period, the largest pledge class among 15 Fraternities. Kappa Zeta is dedicated to living Jackson’s dream, and is proud to be the leading Greek organization on the GSU campus.
