GSU Recognizes Three Kappa Zeta Alumni |

This past fall Georgia Southern University recognized three Kappa Sigma alumni for their professional achievement and contributions to the University as undergrads.
Brother Rick Beene (1970) was named Alumnus of the Year for the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences. Brother Beene is the president and CEO of The Bakersfield Californian, Bakersfield California. Rick has served in a variety of editing and management positions with the LA Times, the Dallas Times Herald in Mexico City, and for the United Press International.
Brother Jimmy Ellis (1970) has been named to the GSU Athletic Hall of Fame. Brother Ellis was a member of the GSU golf team 1970-1973, was a 1st Team All-American in 1973, leading the Eagles to consecutive NCAA National Championship Tournament appearances in 1972 and 1973. He was also a member of the Walker Cup Team, and played on the PGA Champions Tour.
Brother Vance Pike (1983) was recently named the Top Offensive Tackle in the history of GSU football, during the Eagle’s 25th Anniversary season. Brother Pike was a Kodak All-American, and captain of the 1985 Division IAA National Championship team. Brother Pike is also a member of the GSU Athletic Hall of Fame. Brother Ellis’ induction brings the total number of Kappa Sig’s in the H.O.F. to four. Brothers Ellis and Pike are joined by brothers Tommy Bond, and Jesse Jenkins. |
