Quoting Grand Master Andrew Rutland:
Brothers, once again Kappa Zeta has enjoyed a very successful semester. Our chapter continues to be the envy of every fraternity at Georgia Southern and other Kappa Sigma chapters. Just last month the chapter won three awards at Dixie Conclave. In addition to these awards, Kappa Zeta was shown to have the best rush record from over the past four semesters. We are proud of the fact that even against much bigger schools like UGA and Georgia Tech we are still the leading chapter in the state of Georgia. Over the course of the 06-07 school year we pledged and initiated 40 men. Compared to other GSU fraternities and our Kappa Sigma district, we had the highest numbers of rushees pledged and the highest percentage of brothers initiated. This summer we will continue our rush program which culminates with the annual fishing trip in St. Simmons. Rush recommendations are always welcome and appreciated. Please email any rush recommendations to me personally at,

This spring we continued our focus on Academics and Athletics. Kappa Sigma at GSU is one of only two fraternities whose GPA exceeds the All-Men’s average for the past five semesters. It should also be said that the other fraternity has 28 members compared to Kappa Sigma’s 125 brothers. As you know our chapter has won the intramural championship for the past four years. Even though we did not win any individual sport championships this spring, we did well enough to have a substantial lead in the points race. We fully expect to win the championship for the fifth year.
Another area where the chapter has expanded is our community service. This past spring brothers logged over 1500 hours of service with Kappa Sigma’s national headquarters. A couple of the projects included Habitat for Humanity and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Georgia Southern. As a chapter we also elected to make a $10,000 contribution to our Capital Campaign in honor of the 40th anniversary of our founding. We are very excited about the opportunities that this fundraiser presents to the future of Kappa Sigma, and wish to be a full partner with our alumni brothers.
Please feel welcome to visit the chapter any time you’re in Statesboro. We look forward to seeing many of you this fall for our tailgating parties before and after each home game.
