Thanks to tremendous alumni support, the Kappa Sigma House is about to undergo a much needed transformation. Although the house has been well-maintained since it was built 17 years ago, time and the use that comes from 400 brothers has taken a toll on the facility. In order to renovate the house without burdening future generations of Kappa Sigma students with a hefty mortgage payment, alumni launched a capital campaign to renovate and restore the chapter house. Alumni, parents, actives and friends are being asked to make contributions and purchase engraved bricks to help underwrite the cost of the planned renovations. Response has been extraordinary. The cost of the complete renovation and transformation is $285,000. Funds for this project will come from alumni contributions and brick sales. Some of the planned improvements include: - Redesigning the house exterior with an allbrick appearance and new columns
- Replacing the HVAC, hot water heater and fire/smoke alarm system
- Remodeling the office and kitchen
- Installing new flooring in the Chapter room, Trophy room, TV room, 2nd floor hall and bedrooms
- Renovating the downstairs restrooms with new tile, fixtures and exhaust fans
- Installing a built-in trophy case and entertainment center in the Trophy and TV rooms
- Painting the house interior
- Expanding the parking lot
"There are many things we need to do with our house," explained Chip Howard ’73. "But, we want to make these renovations without incurring any more debt. We’ll be able to do all of this and more, but it takes money. Thankfully, alumni are responding positively, and thanks to our alumni supporters, we’re on track to do great things for the fraternity." |
